As women, we must learn to embrace ourselves, with or without makeup. And, today's society is quick to deem one greater than the other, but in my opinion, that's not the case. Confidence is key.
If you haven't already taken notice on social media, there is a growing comparison between women who wear makeup and those who do not. And, society has somehow created a never ending feud to deem one greater than the other and that you are less of a person depending on what you wear. However, for the longest, I have considered that feud to be nothing less than toxic and ultimately, self-destructive.
I, myself, love makeup. I enjoy experimenting and trying out new things. And being an aspiring model, makeup is commonly used whether I'm doing a photo shoot or ripping the runway. I know several individuals who are extremely talented and passionate about makeup. They strive each and every day to make that passion a lifetime career as a makeup artist. Others use makeup to hide scars or other skin related features. For example, even when I used minimum makeup, I tend to only use concealer to help with darkness under my eyes. Makeup is a form of expression. It helps us feel confident and can add a little boost to our self motivation. I've never considered makeup to be misleading unless YOU create it to be that way by applying so much that you are not recognizable. I love makeup, but I also remind myself that too much makeup can be harmful to your skin. I've always believed that makeup should enhance you, not change you. Protect your skin. Nourish your skin.
Even though makeup is a form of expression and should be used to enhance and not change, natural beauty should always be embraced as well. Natural beauty is something you will live with forever. Once all that makeup is removed, you are who you are naturally. And nothing is more beautiful than when you can accept and love your natural self as well. We tend to hide that side of us because we are scared what others may think. But, you are YOU, flaws and all. Remind yourself that you are beYOUtiful in your own way.
The message I am trying to get across to you all is that with or without makeup, you slay. Wearing it or not wearing it should not validate who you are as a person and it doesn't make you greater than anyone else, despite what you choose to wear. If you want to slay the day away with your face beat, do it. If you want to slay the day away naturally, do it. Do what makes you happy. If you are not CONFIDENT, it won't work either way. You have to embrace yourself. You have to love yourself so that everything else can fall into place.

Don't be afraid to do what makes you happy. Confidence is key. Now, go. Slay the day away.
